Incidental Interactions
Our (Noam Tractinsky’s and my) first article about the Incidental User* appears in Interactions magazine’s July edition. One of our goals in publishing the article is to understand what kind of interest there is in pursuing this line of research.
While clearly designers of human computer interaction are those who determine the final design, it seems more likely that service providers will be the ones pushing for this change, which has the potential to improve the service they provide and help customers choose them over others.
If you’re already here, we’d love your feedback. Go ahead, introduce yourself. Tell us what field you’re in and share your thoughts...

*The Incidental User, as we’ve defined it, is a person who has interest in information that a system can provide but doesn’t have full access to the system and/or the knowledge required to use the system. Several examples appear in previous posts.
